Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Do you feel the need to have someone just “get it”? Are you striving to live a life with more purpose and meaning? Perhaps you are feeling “stuck” and want to move past obstacles or familiar patterns that are no longer useful to you? Do you find yourself with a toolbox of ineffective coping skills? I will provide a sensitive, thoughtful, genuine supportive presence with openness and positive regard, a place where diversity is embraced, a place where you can feel truly heard, understood, and acknowledged with acceptance and without judgment. At a pace that is comfortable to you, we can work together on concerns you may have with your interpersonal relationships, realizing your authentic self, gender role strain experienced by men, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, chronic anger, death and dying, grief and loss, including those losses associated with transitions and life stage stressors such as “empty nest”, “mid-life” dilemmas which may include career change, finding meaning and life purpose, retirement, and aging. I have clinical experience working with adults, older adults, couples, and adolescents. My clinical approach is informed by a multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity in understanding my clients’ unique experiences. It is relational, humanistic, non-pathologizing, strength-based, and respectful while also being appropriately challenging to help facilitate positive changes and move toward meeting your goals. Please feel free to contact me for an initial phone consultation. I look forward to collaborating with you on your courageous journey towards lasting positive change and increased personal fulfillment in your life.

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
