Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have twenty years experience working in the field of mental health. The majority of my experience is working with individuals struggling with addictions. In a wider sense my greatest interest is in working with those reaching to find a larger, more meaningful identity for themselves. Addiction can be seen as the demands of the soul shouting to be heard. Once some stability is achieved, through hard-fought behavioral changes, deep and substantial growth is often possible by approaching the threshold that soul, through addiction, points toward. If this brief synopsis is compelling to you, and the logistics are right, then please feel free to contact me. It may be that we have some exploring to do together.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
