Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
A single moment of understanding can flood a whole life with meaning. My intention is that together we reach this moment so you, your child, your family can bridge the gap to where you want to be. Change will not occur until you are truly ready to enter this process. Change must be internally motivated for it to last. Together we can build that motivation and readiness that may exist now as only a spark. After receiving my Masters in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, I began practicing at the YWCA, a shelter for homeless women, children and families. As a professor for a local college I was able to solidify my knowledge and understanding of the theories I use in my practice. Additionally, I worked with children involved in CWS. I was trained in Incredible Years Parenting program. The techniques were modeled for the parents, coached and taught during parenting groups. My therapeutic approach is described as holistic integrating modalities such as EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Behavior Modification, Play Therapy, Incredible Years Parenting Curriculum. My expertise is child/adolescent behavioral issues, child/parent relationships, anxiety, depression, co-dependency, conflict resolution, feelings of being "stuck."
